Imperial Hotel, Sliema, Malta
Official Rating 3 Stars
Built in 1865, the charismatic Imperial Hotel, is as grand and olde worlde as it sounds. The Victorian-style grandeur is well complemented with modern day comforts including Wi-Fi Internet hotspots. The high standard of service has produced a well deserved popularity with repeat guests.
Reviews
I have stayed at the Imperial 14 times during the last six years, so obviously like it for being traditional and unique amongst Malta's hotels. The food has improved since my last visit in March 2011 and is now quite good. The staff are lovely. Long may it continue.

We adored the hotel. It was so beautiful and very classy in an old fashion way which is so unusual in this day and age when most hotels are so impersonal. The food was good, local, seasonal and fresh. The room was lovely and large with high ceilings. We were given clean towels and bed linen every day. But the best thing of all was the gorgeous courtyard garden with its splendid out door swimming pool.
I agree with a previous comment I read on a site about the Imperial that the bathrooms are a little faded but I did not care as the water was hot and it was clean.
I have been recommending your company and the Imperial Hotel to every one I have met since returning home. The whole experience from when I logged on to your website and landed back at Gatwick was a pure joy.
Fabulous value for money. The Hotel made our stay on the wonderful Island of Malta a complete joy.

The hotel needs some TLC. Staff really friendly and helpful but the hotel needs some work done to it.

We had booked Half Board but found the food ( both breakfast and dinner)of a poor quality, poor selection. I would add the service of staff was good - Malta on the whole was excellent - good bus service and easy to get around

YOUR BOOKING AND SERVICES OF THE HOLIDAY WERE FIRST CLASS AND WE WOULD TRAVEL WITH YOU AGAIN.
ALTHOUGH HAVING STAYED HERE BEFORE WE FEEL THAT THE HOTEL NEEDS IMPROVING WITH REGARD TO THE BATHROOM SUITE AND ALSO THE QUALITY OF THE FOOD IMPROVED. MAID SERVICE IN THE ROOMS WAS VERY GOOD WITH FRESH TOWELS EVERY DAY AND CLEANLINESS WAS VERY GOOD.MOST OF THE STAFF WERE VERY POLITE AND HELPFUL. THE OUTSIDE POOL AND GARDEN ARE WERE VERY CLEAN AND ENJOYABLE TO RELAX IN. RYANAIR FLIGHTS ARE VERY GOOD AND PUNCTUAL AND THE STAFF ARE VERY HELPFUL.

Accommodation: The Imperial is unique in Malta, some might say something of a Maltese "Fawlty Towers", however, I have been there many times and shall continue to return. The standard of catering could be better, which is why I have only rated the accommodation as "Fair", but in all other respects the place is just charming. Recommendations: The friendliness of the Maltese people and the "Englishness" of the place. I have travelled to Malta with Chevron 12 times in the last five years and never had a single problem.
