One of the most popular tourist resorts in Malta is Bugibba. This is located in the northern part of the island. Around twenty years ago, Bugibba was a very small, nearly in existent village. It started off as an extension to St. Paul’s Bay village. With the increasing tourist demand, this village evolved into one of the most popular tourist areas. The village grew rapidly with a concentration of various hotels, self catering apartments, restaurants and souvenir shops all around the coast.

Close to Bugibba is Qawra. This is a somewhat quieter version of Bugibba. Both localities offer water sports. The tourist resorts are set in 2 naturally sheltered creeks which keep the sea free from currents even on windy days. People can swim freely all along the rocky coasts. The entrance to the sea is made easier by some strategically placed ladders leading into the water. Some hotels also have private pools situated close to the sea.
Lately the whole promenade leading from St. Paul's Bay to Bugibba and then to Qawra has been refurbished, giving the resort a new modern look.
The resorts offer all kinds of night entertainment. There are various discotheques, a casino, a cinema and an endless amount of different restaurants offering all types of cuisines. Most of the hotels have their own entertainment going on every evening, with live bands and dancing around the pool.
Bugibba is close to the northern sandy beaches which are probably the most popular beaches in Malta. There is a bus terminus in the centre of Bugibba from where one can take direct buses to various popular locations like Sliema, Mosta, Valletta, Mdina, Marsaxlokk, Golden Bay, Cirkewwa and Ghadira. Overlooking the St. Paul’s Islands, Bugibba is one of the most popular locations in Summer for both tourists and locals alike.
