The Maltese Islands offer endless opportunities of viewing the real heart of the Mediterranean through a diving experience. Although small in size, the islands offer numerous diving spots each with its own different character and attractions.
The majority of dive sites are easily accessed from shore and are close to each other, you will be able to explore a variety of underwater worlds. Boat dives are common on more remote locations and for all the dives around the Island of Comino. There are over 50 popular dive sites ranging from caves to reefs and wartime wrecks. For these reasons Malta is considered as a top class diving destination for experienced divers and also an ideal destination for beginners. The numerous sheltered bays offer shallow and easy dive conditions suitable for first time divers.
In Malta, experienced divers can visit one of the sunken relics situated in various points just a few metres from the coast. One of the most popular sites is the Rozi tugboat in Cirkewwa. There are also other tugboats in the Zurrieq area, a World War II bomber close to Valletta, and various other sunken ships scattered all around the island. These ships have now become home to different fish species and other marine life.

Gozo also offers spectacular dive sites for both novices and experienced divers. One of the most popular sites is the Dwejra area, very close to the Azure Window. One can dive in the Blue Chimney or else go through a cave that leads from the open water into the inland sea in Dwejra. You can even go close to the Crocodile or Fungus Rock by boat and dive in the area.
Comino, the smallest of the 3 inhabited Maltese islands also offers some of the most charming dive sites. One of them is Irqieqa Point. This is a thin strip of land jutting out of the seabed. It is a particularly clear spot and divers often meet large shoals of sardines and bogue. Occasionally tuna, dentex and amber-jacks are also spotted.

If you have never dived before, don’t worry. There are various certified and professional Dive schools located all around the islands which offer short courses that will let you experience some beautiful underwater locations. You can even go for one time dives that last for about 1 hour, without any previous training whatsoever. These dives do not exceed a depth of 12 metres but you will still view all the hidden beauty of the Mediterranean sea bed, coloured sea urchins, coral, fish and octopus.
Interested? Convinced? Then it is time for action, come and join us to experience the excitement and adventure of scuba diving around the Maltese Archipelago.
