The 'Malta Experience', is a spectacular multi-vision spectacle covering 7000 years of Maltese history depicted in superb sound and vision.
The show is sited in an air-conditioned auditorium inside a fitting environment - the 16th century building, which for several centuries served as the Holy Infirmary of the Sovereign Order of St. John.
The 50 minute show carries the audience back into the misty ages of history from Malta's Neolithic origins to the temple building era, then onwards to the eventful days of Roman, Arab and Spanish domination. The saga of the Knights unfolds in thrilling idiom, and the spirit of their epic siege is captured in vivid colours and gripping sound effects. Then follow the British colonial years, which culminate in the crucial days of World War 2 when the island was under siege; the anguish and the glory, the devastation of cities and homes, and the defiant resistance of the Maltese people, are presented in authentic pictures of stark reality heightened by the deafening noise of diving war-planes and the gunfire of the gallant defenders.
Postwar Malta is prominently featured with pictures showing the attainment of independence and of republican status, the progress achieved in industrial activities, and the advances in the field of tourism and culture.
The show is produced by the use of 3,000 colour slides, 39 projectors, special sound effects and a lucid simultaneous commentary in ten different languages.
