The Sliema Beaches

The Sliema and St. Julians coastline, which faces the open sea, is always thronged with sun-bathers during the summer period.

From Qui-si-Sana in Sliema to Balluta Bay in St. Julians, it is one long stretch of rocky beach with hardly any sand at all.

To compensate for this, there are rocky platforms which are smooth and present no difficulty for relaxation.

The sea is generally deep, but this does not prevent the groups of youngsters from getting their best of fun and frolic.

Some hotels in the neighbourhood have beach concessions equipped with swimming pools, and with adequate space where night entertainment is provided during the high season.

The sea is, on the whole, clean and clear in summer.

The favourite venues on this long coastal beach are: the Tigne' area, Qui-si-Sana, Ghar id-Dud, the Exiles and Fond Ghadir. These areas are frequented mostly by local residents and by the numerous tourists from the nearby hotels and vacation centres.

Restaurants, snack-bars and soft-drink outlets are to be found in these localities.
