Mdina

Mdina, the original capital city of Malta is exquisitely beautiful. Located near the centre of the island the city stands proud on one of the highest points in Malta.
Today the medieval town is still confined within its walls, with a population of about three hundred with restricted access to motor vehicles. It has earned the local name of the 'Silent City' and it certainly seems mysteriously hushed compared to all modern towns as visitors are more likely to be passed by a horse drawn carriage than a car.

Exploring Mdina in the early morning or at night helps avoid the intense heat of midday and it is perhaps most beautiful in the evening when the bustle of people subsides.

Wandering the eerily quiet streets and winding alleyways hand in hand transport you back to a time filled with quiet grandeur.
