Valletta/Floriana

Valletta, a harbour city whose formidable bastion walls rise majestically from the sea, is the current capital of Malta. Viewing the city from across the water is most striking at sunset as the fortifications and buildings of golden limestone are enveloped by tones of warm orange and red.
A UNESCO World Heritage City since 1980, Valetta was moulded and brought to life by the Knights of St John.
The magnificent peninsular city is mostly Baroque in style with touches of Mannerist and Neo-Classical architecture, exuding a romantic air. Valletta is nothing short of an open-air museum. One of the most wonderful ways to appreciate Valletta is to share a leisurely bottle of wine whilst sitting outside a bar or restaurant in one of its stunning palazzos.
