The '22nd February' Pyrotechnics Society manufactures the fireworks for the feast of St. Peter Apostle in Birzebbuga.
The Society was founded in 1990 and is a branch of another mother organization, a cultural organization. The St. Peter's Philarmonic Society, Birzebbuga Band has as its main purpose the proliferation of interest in Concert band music. However, as many other similar organizations in Malta, the Society also aims to improve the patron saint feast of Saint Peter in Birzebbuga. In doing so, it gives shelter to many people working for the feast, even those whose interest may not be directly related to concert band music.
The Fireworks group is made up of about 20 members. Many Birzebbuga locals help by donating money and organizing fund raising activities.
The Society is well renowned for Aerial multibreak shells and also for the Ground Fireworks Display in Birzebbuga's Main Square on the Eve of St Peter feast held annually on the first Sunday of August.
