Mellieha Bay Malta is the most popular beach resort in Malta. This superb natural sandy bay stretches around 800m and provides an excellent Malta beach holiday setting with sunbathing, diving and water sport opportunities for all.

Why choose Mellieha Bay Beach?
Mellieha Bay beach is ideal for families, it is the largest beach in Malta and has a Blue Flag status which is awarded on merit based on environmental management, water quality, services and safety to list a few. The beach front is lined with cafes, stalls and bars with more shops and facilities found if you head into the town centre. No BBQ’s are allowed on the beach.

Where is Mellieha Bay Beach?
As the name suggests, the beach can be found in the village of Mellieha located in the north of Malta. It is easy to access from most resorts across Malta with regular buses to and from the area, you can also hire a car and drive. We would recommend getting there early, especially if you are driving as it is a popular location particularly on weekends. Early morning arrivals on weekdays will allow you to enjoy the beach front the most.

Just above Mellieha is Golden Bay and Paradise Bay, another two resorts with beaches but are a little more isolated with less local amenities. Just 5 minute’s drive from Mellieha is Cirkewwa, here you will find the Gozo Ferry Port – a twenty minute ferry journey will land you in Gozo famous for its lace making and very laid back atmosphere.

Mellieha Bay Malta Things To Do
The Mellieha town centre is up a steep hill from the beach front but the bus will help you up if required. In the centre you will find a number of shops, bars and restaurants all overlooked by the Parish church, this limestone structure dominates the Mellieha skyline allowing for spectacular views over Mellieha Bay and over the sister islands of Gozo & Comino.

Just opposite the beach you will find Ghadira Nature Reserve. This reserve is mainly for bird conservation and is run by Birdlife Malta so if you are a twitcher and like a bit of ornithology then this may be a popular spot.

Popeye’s Village will take many of the older generation back in time. The magical Robin Williams starred in the Popeye film released in the 1970’s and the original film set remains to this day, it is now an entertainment complex great for a family day out for young and old.
