Naxaar Malta is an interesting town in the north of Malta, its roots as a town established thousands of years ago. Although a date cannot be confirmed of the first existence of Naxaar, evidence from the surrounding area suggests that it was thousands of years ago with local caves, bronze age period megalith remains, cart ruts, punic towmbs and the Catacombs at Salina & Maghtab.
Things to do in Naxaar
Naxaar Church Malta is at the heart of the town, the parish of Naxaar was the first of the Maltese outskirts after Mdina Cathedral and Vittoriosa. It is believed Naxaar were the first converts to Christianity. Palazzo Parisio is a great place to visit, it was built in the 19th century and was home to Marcus Giuseppe who adorned the palace with architecture, artistic designs and beautiful gardens.

Being a small island, you will find a number of fortifications and defence towers in Malta. Some of these towers are in Naxaar. The narrow streets of Naxaar Malta make for a great walk taking in the character of the mostly old buildings with a number of public gardens to stop for a break along the way round. Nearby historically significant sites can be easily visited from Naxxar. We think the best time to visit is 8th September, this is the date of the local festa but activities and celebrations start the week before ramping up to this date as they celebrate and honour ‘our Lady of Victory’, think fireworks, festival, music and colour.
