Getting To Glasgow Airport
The airport is just 7 miles west of Glasgow city centre, right beside the commuter town of Paisley. It also sits right on the M8, making it incredibly convenient for those arriving by car. Take junction 28 if you’re arriving from the east and 29 if it’s from the west. If you’re going to be getting a ride to the airport and having someone drop you off, it’s good to know that there is a free designated drop off zone right beside the main terminal.
There is no direct rail link to the airport, so if you’re arriving in to Queen Street Station or Glasgow Central, you’ll need to take the 500 bus which goes direct to the airport. This route is a 24 hour service all year round (except on Christmas day). For travellers arriving at Paisley Gilmour Street Station, take the 757 bus to make the transfer to the airport.
At The Airport
For the level of passengers that travel through the airport (it’s the 8th busiest in the UK) Glasgow Airport is quite compact, making it easy to get from the end of one terminal to the next in no time at all. The central part between the two terminals is where you’ll find all the action taking place. Brands like Maplin, Dixons and Accessorize have you covered for all the last minute holiday essentials you might have forgot to pack, while Swarovski and World Duty Free can help you find a great bargain on designer names.
For travellers who smoke, it’s important to know that there are no designated smoking areas in the terminal.
After check in and security, Caledonia Bar, Frankie & Benny’s, Starbucks and Wetherspoon’s The Sanderling are your main dining options, with some small cafes by departure gates if you’re looking for a quick snack or coffee before take-off.
