The Grand Hotel Gozo overlooks the fishing hamlet of Mgarr which includes the small ferry boat terminal. The hotel is ideally located to explore Gozo, Victoria is only 6km away and there is a bus stop nearby. Crossing over to Malta could not be easier with the ferry terminal a short walk away. The hotel has private underground parking.
Gozo is known to provide a restful haven for a tempo and scene change. A wonderful sanctuary where progressively people forget their mobiles, shut down their laptops and reboot in this calm, exquisite island. The real beauty of Gozo, apart from its stunning seascape and interior, lies in the villages. Here, it seems as if time really does stand still. The locals treasure their peace and the villages are tranquil, proving to be a wonderful respite from the trials and tribulations of everyday life for visitors.
Gozo is only 14km long and 7km wide - the sea, bars, shops and some of the finest restaurants in the Mediterranean are never more than a 15 minutes drive away. Cheap public transport is available, however car hire is relatively inexpensive and will give wider opportunity for exploring. All roads in Gozo lead to Victoria, also known as Rabat, which is where the fortified citadel sits atop a summit. It is a great place to watch the Islanders go about their day, especially when the main market square, It-Tokk, comes to life. The town also has a thriving cultural life all its own, with some surprising attractions ranging from opera to horse races in the main street on festa day. Ggantija Neolithic temples which is the oldest man made structure and a World Heritage Site is a short bus ride away from the Victoria bus terminus.
Gozo is about a 1.5 hour transfer from Malta International Airport by road, including the 25 minute ferry crossing from Cirkewwa in Malta to Mgarr in Gozo.
The hotel features three restaurants including an Oriental choice, a Cocktail bar and a Terrace/Pool bar (summer)
Any meal services as described are only a guide and may change without notice.
Folding or put-u-up type beds may be provided when 3 or more are sharing a room.

Very smooth trouble free holiday - The Grand is the best hotel on Gozo, great accommodation and staff.

We would thoroughly recommend the Grand Hotel. The food was excellent combining bbq buffet with three course meals during the week with plenty of selection. The staff were very courteous and helpful.
The hotel itself ran free transport to the beaches and the capital during the week on a daily basis which a bonus.
The position of the hotel overlooking the ferry port was well worth the extra payment for a seaview room.
The only downside was that the pool was not massive should more of the guests choose to use the facilities at the same time.

This is the first time we have booked with Chevron and we have been extremely impressed with both the value for money and the service. We normally book everything independently, but it was great not to have to think about anything - the transfers were excellent, George (the rep in the resort) was very nice, and recognised that we had been to Gozo many times, so just left it to us to make contact with him if we needed anything, something we much preferred rather than someone who was 'pushy'.
We would definitely recommend Chevron and would have no hesitation in using them again - thank you for making it a stress free holiday for us, even checking us in and providing us with the boarding passes before we travelled!

All your arrangements worked perfectly and you did not pester us and bog us down with bumff..........thanks for that.
The Hotel was excellent - very comfortable, perfectly positioned with efficient, helpful staff who did not fuss.....we would certainly be happy, and probably will, visit again.
Gozo is a gem!!!. We are mountaineers and this was an unusual venue for us but we thoroughly enjoyed the holiday.
We were walking and the coastal scenery and cliffs were very impressive but the super bus service, kindly people and relaxed atmosphere made it doubly enjoyable......oh, and the weather isn't bad.
Such a shame that the Maltese still shoot their birds - a black mark there I'm afraid. We met a lot of people who felt strongly about this mindless behaviour as the birds are potentially a tourist attraction. Sightings of a few blue rock thrushes along the cliffs was a real treat.

Chevron Feedback: We agree about the birds - Chevron supports Birdlife Malta.
I really enjoyed the holiday and felt the staff at the hotel were always on hand to help you. The food was excellent but on occasions I would have preferred something a little bit plainer on the menu . Perhaps I should have asked !!
The Grand Hotel was the best hotel I have stopped in for about 5 years.

The transfer from the airport to the port on Malta wasn't great, mainly because the driver dropped us off without helping us get our cases to the boat. This is a real problem when you have a young child with you and a limited number of arms.
The Grand Hotel is fun and good for families, with attentive child-friendly staff. Our four year old daughter loved the pool, even after (or before) a few hours of swimming in the sea at Ramla Bay or the Blue Lagoon. The rooftop barbecues are fun and the proximity to all of Mgarr's excellent restaurants was an unexpected bonus.
Travelling around Gozo by bus is pretty straightforward and I recommend it for accessing almost everywhere on the island. The water taxis to the Blue Lagoon (go first thing in the morning) are particularly good too. As for destinations, Victoria, the Neolithic temples and of course the Inland Sea, Ramla Bay and Blue Lagoon were all good for us, even with a young child.
Overall we had a wonderful break. Next time it would be nice to find somewhere more rural, assuming we can still get around, partly because I'm an astronomer and like dark skies. That said, if ever a hotel wants a rooftop star party I'd be happy to help!

Nice Hotel ,superb room, good food and selection at breakfast, all staff friendly and helpful, hotel has good facilities eg pool, cinema, restaurants and meal prices comparable with outside. Would definately go again.
Hotel handy for buses, fares cheap and can get anywhere on the island.
When we booked Chevron were the most competitive for this hotel and room.

Fantastic hotel, very friendly welcoming staff. Great room. Food excellent standard.
The Arriva Bus service is brilliant, and for 12 euro' s you can buy a seven day pass, allowing you to go where you like and when you want. Also a trip to San Blas beach is a must for peace and quiet, for a couple of Euros each you get a lift back up the extremely long hill, well worth paying.

This was an organised trip with representatives clearly visible and friendly. There is nothing you can do to improve. Please maintain this level of service.
Friendly, attentive, polite and courteous staff. Food excellent. relaxing, quiet ambience.
This was a good choice hotel for relaxing. Air Malta night flight was tough going for seniors such as ourselves. We would select again but choose day time flights.
