Travel in Sliema
Travel & Public Transport in Sliema
Sliema has some of the most popular hotels
in the country, and because of this, transport links in the area are particularly good. No matter how you plan to get about there will be some good travel options available to you. Here are some of the ways you can explore Malta and get about when staying in Sliema.
Firstly, getting from the airport to Sliema is quite easy if you’re planning on making your own way there. You can take a dedicated bus (you can see the routes below) or hire a taxi. On average, a taxi fare will cost €20 and will be fixed. It is customary in Malta for a driver to agree the fare with the passenger before travelling, and at the airport, you actually have to pre-purchase your taxi ride from a dedicated stall and get a ticket to use for travel. It’s a slight novelty but incredibly useful for travellers so they don’t get ripped off.
Finding cheap public transport in Sliema isn’t tricky either with regular bus services running all over the island. Sliema is serviced by the 12 and 13 busses while the 133 bus takes you to Fort St. Elmo, right by the very popular and picturesque Valletta-Sliema ferry route. Bus passes
are also available if you intend to travel a lot and stop off at some of the quaint little towns off the beaten path.
