St Georges Bay Beaches
The Best Bays and Best Beaches in St Georges BayThere’s nothing quite like waking up on
holiday in Malta and knowing that your main problem for the day will be simply figuring out what beach to go to so you can lounge and work on your tan. Do you need to know the best beaches in
St Georges Malta when you’re going to be staying in the area? Don’t worry as Chevron is here to highlight the best beaches that are never too far from your hotel.
The main beach in the area is of course St. George’s Bay beach. Centrally located, it is quite a popular beach for residents and tourists who want to lounge in the sandy beach not too far from a hotel. The bay sits right between the
Corinthia Hotel St Georges Bay and
InterContinental Malta. Umbrella and chair rental is available at this Blue Flag status beach, and there are toilets and a lifeguard on duty. With the bay being closed in, the tide is low for a comfortable enough distance to let children go in the water.
If you head north out of the bay towards
Bugibba on the coastal road, you’ll come across Bahar ic-Caghaq. This is an area encompassing a number of small and enclosed sandy and stony beaches. It is primarily known for being a good spot to go snorkelling as it is known for having very clear waters. The sandy enclaves are suitable for families.
Head a little bit further up towards the top of the island and you’ll come across
Mellieha Bay, arguably the most popular beach in Malta. It is the largest sandy beach in the country and has something for any type of beach goer. Locals and tourists alike will flock to the beach, especially at the weekend, and you can do everything from kite surfing to water skiing. There is a blow up platform out in the water for kids to play on all day long.
