Valletta Bars and Clubs
The Best Clubs and Bars in VallettaStaying in the capital means that a night out will give you an incredibly insight in to how locals prefer to have a good time. You won’t see many bars in Valletta Malta aimed towards tourists as you would further north, but that doesn’t mean you’ll be missing out on a good time. There are some fantastic bars and nightspots dotted around the capital that you should make sure to visit on your holiday here with Chevron.
Two of the most popular spots to drink are Strait Street, commonly known as 'the Gut', and the Valletta Waterfront as pictured below. On the chance you find yourself walking down Republic Street and see a Borg’s Bakers sign above a door, you’ve just stumbled across one of the trendiest bars in Malta. It is home to Django Jazz bar, which only opens Wednesday-Sunday between 7pm and 1am, making it quite the exclusive spot for a drink.
Jazz is also offered up at the Bridge Bar on Saint Ursula Street. We recommend going on a Friday night if you’re staying during the summer months as live music is played in the street and you can sit outside by the steps and soak up the atmosphere. If you prefer a good seat indoors instead, Loop Bar is a chance to see what
drinking culture in Malta was like decades ago. This is a restored bar with original fixtures and fittings in place. It’s a bit like walking in to a time machine. They also have a nice range of snacks if you’re stuck for something to eat.
For guests of
Valletta Merisi Suites we suggest you take a trip just down the street to the aptly named The Pub. It’s an understated British themed bar that the late Oliver Reed was well known for spending a lot of time in while filming Gladiator. If you go upstairs you’ll get a chance to see the infamous graffiti wall that anyone can leave a message on; something you can do too.
And if you’re looking to rock out during your stay, a short 15 minute walk from the
Hotel Phoenicia will take you down by the water to the Hard Rock Bar Malta. For being a Hard Rock establishment it’s quite a cosy little bar which has been a hotspot almost every night of the week since opening in 2006.
Pubs, live music, wine bars, Valletta has a variety of drinking options to choose from. If you are looking for a romantic spot try one of the Valletta waterfront bars.
