The Best Beaches and Bays in VallettaStaying in
Valletta and looking to find the best beaches in the area?
Chevron knows where exactly to go if you want to spend a day by the sea, build some sandcastles and work on your tan. Here are some of the best beaches in the area to visit.
There are no sandy beaches in Valletta. Although there is no Valletta beach, there are beaches near Valletta Malta. Just to the North of Valletta is
St. George’s Bay and any families travelling to Valletta who really want to spend a day in the sand should definitely write this location down in their itineraries. With the area growing in the last few years thanks to the popularity of hotels like
Corinthia Hotel,
InterContinental Malta and
Radisson Blu Resort, the beach has been given a renovation to make it family friendly. There are all the amenities you’d expect to find at the beach (umbrella hire, toilets, lifeguard etc.) and it’s a great spot to spend all day at.
Now if you prefer your beaches to be quiet and tranquil, the Bahar ic-Caghaq rocky beach is a little bit out of the way on the road between
St Julians and
Bugibba, but is widely regarded as one of the hidden gems in terms of
beaches in Malta. It is a small sandy beach known as a prime spot for snorkelling and having little pockets divided by rocks, almost making them private beaches. There is also a well-known ice cream van by the beach that locals will stop by on their commute to get a scoop or two and you should too.
